Can anyone translate Спрятался месяц за тучку please?

This is the title of an old Gypsy song by Chuevsky and Dubuc from 1871 (it appears in Chekhov's play The Cherry Orchard):

Спрятался месяц за тучку

A literal translation may not be very helpful, so I need to understand what lies behind it. I'm wondering whether it has any cultural significance -- for example, does it refer to a particular kind of month? Is it an idiomatic expression? The first stanza of the song goes like this:

Спрятался месяц за тучку -
Он больше не хочет гулять;
Дайте мне правую ручку
К пылкому сердцу прижать.

Thank you!

I think you were confused with two different meanings of word "месяц": 1) month 2) crescent moon

The lyrics is quite plain, ordinary and straightforward (even vulgar in some sense) and literal translation will work perfectly.

The crescent moon hides behind the cloud

It doesn't want to promenade any more;

Give me your right hand

To fold to my ardent heart.

Yes, unfortunately Google translations always render "месяц" as "month" in automatic translations, though these come out in different forms. Hidden month, month hidden behind, hid month ... and other such atrocities! Crescent moon makes perfect sense. Thank you.
