Can anyone give suggestions for communicating with toddlers in Russian?

Hi!

I've recently accepted a nannying job for a Russian family, and will be caring for a 1.5 year old. The parents ideally want only Russian spoken in the house, which is fine, seeing as I have studied Russian formally for almost two years and have a good handle on the basics. However, I have no experience speaking Russian to children -- only professors and peers. Can anyone give me suggestions on words or phrases to use? He is still learning, so I will need to be able to help him with his vocabulary.

Thanks for your help!
