-то? meaning..

I understand что-то, как-то, где-то, etc.

I found this in M. Bulgakov's book 'Morphine' and can't figure it out..
"Что ты, не давай резать! Что ты? Горло-то?!"

And I've seen -то on the endings of some other words too.. Is there a standard translation of this?

-то as a part of indefinite pronouns and -то as a particle has different meanings.

In the latter case it is an intensifying particle.

Lingvo says:

-то (выделяет предшествующее слово) just, precisely, exactly или не переводится

в том-то и дело — that is where the problem is; that's what is at issue

этого-то я и хотел — that is precisely what I wanted

собака-то не виновата — but the dog can't be blamed for this
